NEW DELHI – A dispute over possession of land owned by the Krishna Mandir Trust on Sunday escalated into a violent clash between two groups in Hussainganj area of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

The clashes resulted in a demolished wall and a grievously injured individual, reports reaching here said on Monday.

For years, Muhammad Nabi and Muhammad Sharif have been residing in a house built on the disputed land adjacent to the property of the temple trust.

Clashes erupted between the two parties leading to the evacuation of the disputed land’s rear section due to stone-pelting. During the chaos, a wall collapsed, leaving a youth seriously injured as the wall debris fell on him.

The injured individual was rushed to the trauma centre, where his condition was described as grave. Police authorities swiftly intervened, arresting four individuals associated with the warring parties on different charges.

According to statements from Muhammad Nabi and Muhammad Sharif, both parties have now reached an agreement, asserting that the disputed land has been handed over to the authorities.

Gupta, a temple trustee, said the conflict started with stone-pelting from both sides near the platform of Shri Bhagwan Radha, with some people attempting to climb the wall to reach the ground.

The injured, Shah Noor from Udaiganj, was taken out of the heap of rubble by locals. Prompt action by the local police saw Shah Noor being admitted to the trauma centre, where a medical team is closely monitoring the severity of the injuries.

The four arrested persons have been identified as Nabi, Raees, Sharif, and Abdullah Siddiqui. They have been charged and sent to jail. The police station in-charge said the Krishna Mandir Trust land was central to the dispute, with the wall collapsing unexpectedly as both parties clashed over its possession.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collapse of the wall, as the community grapples with the aftermath of the conflict. Authorities are diligently working to ensure a fair resolution to the dispute and to prevent further escalation in the area.
