GAZA CITY — A child suffered critical wounds after Israeli forces opened fire northwest of Rafah in southern Gaza, civil defense teams said.
Two other Palestinians were wounded when Israeli strikes hit a civilian vehicle in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis.
The Israeli army demolished residential blocks southeast of Khan Younis. The army also shelled eastern areas of Deir al-Balah.
On Friday evening, Israeli artillery killed two brothers east of Deir al-Balah, adding to dozens of violations of Trump’s ceasefire. The military claimed that they crossed the so-called “yellow line.” Civil Defense and witnesses dispute the account.
Israeli broadcasters said Washington has blocked Israel from launching new attacks on Gaza, despite Tel Aviv using the difficulty of recovering Israeli soldiers’ bodies as a pretext. British reports said visits by senior US officials in recent weeks served as warnings to Israeli leaders not to undermine the truce or move to annex the West Bank.
Hamas has asked to bring heavy equipment through crossings to help recover the bodies of Israeli soldier prisoners. Israel refused the request, broadcasters reported. Hamas said it carried out the first phase of the deal. It handed over live captives and some bodies. It said it will keep working to deliver the rest.
Israel’s chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, told US Deputy President JD Vance that troops cannot move to phase two of the Trump plan until Hamas returns the remaining bodies, Israeli media said.
Under the October 9 ceasefire and prisoner-swap accord based on the Trump plan, Israeli forces pulled back to a “yellow line.” Palestinians often call it the temporary withdrawal line. The army still controls about 53% of Gaza. Officials say further withdrawals will happen in later phases.
Earlier Friday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir pressed ministers to target Palestinians near the yellow line, including children, Israeli media reported. Civil Defense previously stated that Israeli forces deliberately fire on civilians who approach the line by mistake or without clear warning.
The ceasefire ended a two-year genocide that devastated Gaza. The genocide killed 68,280 Palestinians, wounded 170,375, and destroyed 90% of Gaza’s civil infrastructure.
Friday’s attacks marked a serious violation of the ceasefire, deepening fears that Israel’s actions along the yellow line could reignite the genocide. — QNN
