Case Registered Against Yati Narsinghanand for Remarks Against Mahatma Gandhi

NEW DELHI — Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, head of the Dasna Devi temple in UP’s Ghaziabad, has been booked for making controversial remarks against Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The case was registered under Sections 153A and 505 of the IPC at the Masuri police station in Ghaziabad district on Thursday, in connection with the remarks made by Yati Narsinghanand on July 13.

A a two-minute video has been circulating on the social media platform Twitter where a reporter is seen asking Yati about his views on Gandhi.

The controvertial priest replies that he doesn’t accept Gandhi as the Father of the Nation. He also says he will start a signature campaign of around one lakh Indians who believe in his concept and produce it before the Supreme Court of India.

As per the statement recorded in the FIR, in the video Yati has used multiple derogatory and expletives for the Father of the Nation, “which could lead to disruption of peace and rule of law in the society.”

Blaming the congress for Gandhi’s ‘upliftment’, Yati said, “Because Gandhi gave rights to Muslims then, we Hindus today are unable to proclaim an inch of land as our own.”

No arrest has been made so far.
