Following an objectionable post by Ram Kinkar Pandey against the Prophet, Muslims in Bokaro protested peacefully demanding justice

BOKARO – The Jharkhand police have arrested six people after inflammatory slogans of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ were raised outside Bermo police station during protests against a social media post insulting Prophet Muhammad.

The incident traces back to a controversial post made online by Ram Kinkar Pandey, which went viral and deeply hurt the sentiments of the local Muslim community. The community quickly organised demonstrations demanding strict legal action against the accused.

During one such demonstration on Saturday (September 6), a few individuals reportedly raised the highly provocative slogan ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ outside the police station. A video of this incident circulated on social media, prompting police to act decisively to prevent escalation of unrest.

Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh explained, “Ram Kinkar Pandey, who posted the objectionable content, had already been detained, and legal action is underway. Raising slogans like these threatens law and order and can spread unrest in society.”

He added, “The police have already taken action, and it is not acceptable to continue such acts. Investigations are ongoing based on the video evidence, and strict measures will be taken against anyone attempting similar provocations in future.”

The arrests of six individuals involved in raising the slogans have sent a clear message that law and order will be maintained, and communal harmony will be protected. The police are continuing to search for other participants involved in the provocative incident.

Members of the Muslim community expressed mixed reactions. One protester stated, “We only wanted justice for the Prophet and to ensure that such offensive posts are punished. It was unfortunate that a few used this opportunity to create further unrest.”

The Bermo police station remains on high alert as authorities continue their investigation to prevent any further communal tensions.
