NEW DELHI – The Lok Sabha election results have brought jubilation to the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh, it registered victory in 37 constituencies. Among the celebrated winners is Ziaur Rehman Barq, the grandson of the late Dr. Shafiqur Rehman Barq, a prominent leader of the Samajwadi Party from the Sambhal constituency.

In a telephonic conversation with Clarion India, Ziaur Rahman Barq attributed his victory to the enduring legacy of his grandfather. “The party entrusted me with the task of carrying forward my grandfather’s political legacy, and with the support of the INDIA bloc and Samajwadi Party workers, we achieved victory in the parliamentary elections,” he said.

Highlighting the collaborative effort of the alliance, Barq credited the hard work of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the resounding success. “The people of Uttar Pradesh, and indeed the entire nation, have embraced the INDIA bloc with support and affection,” he added.

In a scathing critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Barq dismissed their ambitious “400 par” slogan as a diversionary tactic aimed at undermining rival parties during the vote-counting process. “The BJP’s divisive rhetoric aimed at Muslims has been decisively rejected by the electorate. This election was about unity, development, and harmony,” he asserted.

Further condemning the BJP’s communal narrative, Barq underscored the electorate’s rejection of divisive politics. “The people, irrespective of their religious affiliations, voted for progress, change, and communal harmony,” he declared.

Regarding the formation of the government, Barq expressed optimism for a coalition government that prioritises national development. “Even the BJP, lacking an absolute majority, will need the cooperation of other political parties. We hope that future governance will be steered by the inclusive vision of our alliance,” he concluded.

The resounding victory of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh underscores a rejection of divisive politics and a mandate for inclusive governance, setting a precedent for collaborative leadership in the country’s political landscape.
