NEW DELHI – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party’s agents and central agencies infiltrated farmer’s Republic Day tractor rally and carried out all the violence and other illegal activities to defame their movement against the farm laws.

At a press conference in New Delhi, APP spokesperson Raghav Chaddha showed the photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah meeting with actor Deep Sidhu, who had unfurled a flag at Red Fort on Tuesday.

“After yesterday’s incidents, the evidence which has come into public domain indicates that central government’s agencies had infiltrated the farmer movement and staged all these events. People from central agencies were involved in the Red Fort incident,” said Chadha.
He said the Narendra Modi government hatched a conspiracy to defame the farmer protests and implicate leaders of farmer union in the violence. “BJP’s own people, who have access to the Prime Minister, have carried out all these events,” he claimed.

The BJP government wants to divert the issue of farmers and sideline their main demands – which is the repeal of all three newly enacted farm laws. They want no discussion on that. They want to focus on the Republic Day’s incidents, he said.

Chadha further asked as to why the Delhi police had filed a case against the farmer leaders, who were not involved in the violence and vandalism. “Why was Deep Sidhu not arrested so far?”

Earlier on Tuesday, APP issued a statement condemning the violence during the tractor marches and blamed the Central government for the deterioration of law and order in the national capital.

“We strongly condemn the violence seen in today [Tuesday]’s protest. It is regrettable that the Central government allowed the situation to deteriorate to such an extent. The movement has been peaceful for the last two months,” said the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

During the tractor marches held by farmer unions on Republic Day, clashes broke out between the police forces and the protesters. The protesters also stormed the Red Fort and hoisted their flags.
