Jaswant Singh has been a Member of Parliament representing BJP since 1980. He was a MP when BJP had virtually no foot-holding in the Indian Parliament – to be more precise, exactly 2 seats in Lok Sabha in 1984. At that point of time, Jaswant Singh was a MP in Rajya Sabha. Jaswant Singh has served 5 terms as a MP from Rajya Sabha and 4 terms from Lok Sabha. Jaswant Singh, who wanted to contest his last election of his political career from his home town Barmer, has been shown the door by BJP. Modi’s manifesto for the 2014 elections should have also planned for some old-age homes for BJP’s veterans where they could lick their deep wounds.
While speaking to NDTV, Jaswant Singh, broke down at the treatment meted out to him by BJP.
While Jaswant Singh was shown the door, MJ Akbar, a noted journalist and one time Modi detractor, was given the red carpet welcome.
Interestingly enough, in December 2002, it was MJ Akbar, who had predicted that “long before Modi gets anywhere near Delhi, he will have destroyed the BJP.” Besides the Nostradamus like prediction, which seems to have come true based on the treatment meted out to Advani, Jaswant Singh and Murli Manohar Joshi, Mr Akbar had made many more scaringly accurate predictions in his article titled “Congress is BJP’s B-Team in Gujarat“.
Quoting from his article, in which MJ Akbar unabashedly equated Modi to Hitler:
Modi is an ideologue, with a difference. The difference is hysteria. It is an edgy hysteria, which can mesmerise; and it easily melts into the kind of megalomania that makes a politician believe that he is serving the larger good through a destructive frenzy against a perceived enemy. In Hitler’s case, the enemy was the Jew; in Modi’s case the enemy is the Muslim. Such a politician is not a fool; in fact, he may have a high degree of intellect. But it is intellect unleavened by reason, and untempered by humanism. If Modi wins big, he will immediately seek to make the whole of the BJP a version of his Gujarat experience. He is already visibly contemptuous of the senior leadership of his own party. One reason why Advani got poor crowds was because Modi wanted to prove to his official boss that in Gujarat, it was Modi who ran the show, not anyone from Delhi. Modi will mount a challenge within his party, and get some support too; he will dream of becoming Prime Minister of India after a national victory fashioned through the Gujarat rhetoric. He will depend on terrorists to supply him with Godhras elsewhere in India.
The flaw in the dream is that long before Modi gets anywhere near Delhi, he will have destroyed the BJP.
How accurate was MJ Akbar in 2002?
- Modi will make whole of the BJP a version of his Gujarat experience
- Modi will dream of becoming the Prime Minister
- Modi will depend on (fake) terrorists to supply him with Godhras elsewhere in India. (eg. Ishrat, Sadiq Jamal, Sohrabuddin)
- Long before Modi gets anywhere near Delhi, he will have destroyed the BJP
Seems like BJP has inducted MJ Akbar into the party for his fascinatingly accurate vision of Modi’s fascist tendencies. MJ Akbar in, Jaswant Singh out. www.truthofgujarat.com
