BOKARO – In a strong attack on the central government, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading hatred and creating Hindu-Muslim tensions. Speaking at an election rally in this Jharkhand city on Sunday, Tejashwi claimed that the BJP was using communal rhetoric to divert attention from the pressing issues of unemployment and inflation.

“They are spreading hatred in the name of Hindus and Muslims to divert people’s attention from the real issues,” Tejashwi said. His comments came as the country faces mounting challenges related to rising unemployment and the escalating cost of living. “Unemployment and inflation are increasing in the country due to the wrong policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre. They have failed to control the rising prices of essential commodities and to create enough jobs for the youth,” he added.

Tejashwi also accused the BJP of misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax (IT) Department in a bid to weaken non-BJP state governments. He cited the cases of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, both of whom have faced legal challenges. “They sent Hemant Soren and Lalu Yadav to jail. Now, they are trying to send me to jail too,” Tejashwi said defiantly, adding, “We are not afraid of going to jail.”

Tejashwi’s speech came as he continued campaigning for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, where he is supporting the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) candidates from the Jharia and Bermo constituencies. The elections are taking place in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for November 20. The results are expected to be announced on November 23.

Tejashwi’s remarks were met with applause from supporters as he accused the BJP of focusing on divisive issues rather than addressing the real concerns of the people. His comments have added to the growing political tension in the state as both national and local leaders prepare for the final stages of the electoral contest.
