HYDERABAD — Some Muslim girls at Chanakya High School in Wanaparthy town in Telangana were attacked by Bajrang Dal members for offering namaz on the school premises. Disclosing this, Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), called for immediate action against those involved.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Khan alleged that Bajrang Dal members forcefully entered the school on Friday, 23rd August, and physically assaulted the girls, despite them having permission from the school authorities to offer namaz. “Some anti-social elements belonging to Bajrang Dal entered Chanakya High School in Wanaparthy and threatened and thrashed some Muslim girls who were offering namaz with permission from school authorities,” Khan stated.
Khan expressed his concern over the lack of response from law enforcement, noting that no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, nor have any arrests been made, even though three days have passed since the incident. “The irony of the situation is that despite the seriousness of the incident, it’s been three days, and there has been no FIR and no arrest in this case,” Khan wrote on Monday.
He urged the chief minister to direct the Superintendent of Police in Wanaparthy District to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that all the responsible are brought to justice. “I request you to kindly ask the Superintendent of Police, Wanaparthy District, to thoroughly investigate this case and arrest all Bajrang Dal culprits involved in the incident immediately,” he added.
The MBT spokesperson also shared videos showing Bajrang Dal members inside the school premises questioning the girls about their namaz and confronting the school authorities. The footage, which has since circulated on social media, has heightened tensions in the area, with many expressing dismay and anger over the incident.
“The incident has not only hurt Muslim sentiments but has also created fear among parents and students,” Khan remarked, highlighting the broader implications of the event.
The incident has sparked significant controversy, with many calling for swift justice and a reassessment of the security measures in place to protect students in educational institutions. The lack of immediate legal action has only added to the community’s concerns, raising questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in safeguarding the rights and safety of minorities.
As the situation continues to unfold, all eyes are on the Telangana government and the local authorities to see how they will address these serious allegations and restore a sense of safety and justice for the affected students and their families.
