While demanding the government to order a proper probe into the violence which has taken two innocent lives for none of their fault, Aurangabad MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel said the riot was planned and a situation was being created by communal forces since last ten days.

AURANGABAD, Maharashtra — Refuting the reports that illegal water connection was behind the communal clashes in the historic city last night, local MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel said the riot was planned and a situation was being created by communal forces since last ten days.

“It is only to divert attention from the real cause behind the riot and to mislead the country that talks of illegal water connection are being spread. The fact is that there are ample proofs to show that a situation to create communal unrest was created since last ten days”, Imtiyaz Jaleel AIMIM MLA from Auranagabad said while talking to ummid.com.

Clashes broke out in the city Friday night following which police used tear-gas shells and later resorted to firing. Two youths have been killed in the police firing and more than 40 others have been left injured. There are also reports that properties belonging to Muslims were looted and gutted down in the ensuing violence.

While reporting about the riots, some media reports claimed that trouble started in the city when the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation cut water connection in the area, including one of the religious places, owing to non-clearance of bills.

According to other reports, trouble started in the city when some miscreants from Gandhinagar area of the city reached out to a garage mechanic and demanded money for drinking liquor. After the mechanic refused, the suspects assaulted him brutally. The suspects were soon joined by some more goons, who were carrying sharp-edged weapons. This panicked the locals forcing them to close their shops. The incident fuelled tensions which eventually resulted in clashes.

Aurangabad MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel however refuted all such reports and reiterated that the riot had a clear political agenda which needed to be thoroughly probed.

“I himself had warned the Police Commissioner about the people who were trying to create communal unrest in the city, already a hyper sensitive place”, Imtiyaz Jaleel said.

“I demand from the government to order a proper probe into the violence which has taken two innocent lives for none of their fault”, he said.

“I also demand from the government to compensate the families who have lost their near and dear ones in police firing”, he said.

One of the two dead is from Nawabpura area of the city and is believed to have been killed in police firing. According to the area corporator Abdul Azim the youth was rushed to MGM Hospital where he was declared brought dead. There are also reports that an old man has also suffered bullet injuries in jis stomach.

Among more than 40 who were injured are about 15 police, 03 women and a child. According to doctors, most of those admitted in hospital have injuries because of stone pelting.

Meanwhile, top police officials are camping in the city and have appealed for peace. To stop rumor mongering, the police have also suspended internet services. “I would like to appeal to the people of Aurangabad to remain peaceful and not taken law unto themselves,” said Aurangabad acting Police Commissioner, Milind Bharambe.
