NEW DELHI – Amid the growing anger and concern in the Arab world over the plight of Indian Muslims, the Kuwait government has condemned the rising hate attacks on Muslims in India and called upon the international community to intervene.

The Council of Ministers of the state of Kuwait has issued a resolution to condemn  the attacks on Muslims in India.

Kuwaiti lawyer and activist Dr Addullah Alshoreka shared the resolution on the Twitter and said “The Council of Ministers of the State of Kuwait condemns the ethnic attacks against Muslims in India”.

Expressing its deep concern over the ghastly hate attacks on the Indian Muslims, the Kuwait Council of Ministers has appealed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the international community to intervene.

The official condemnation came after several Arab activists, intellectuals and royals raised their voices against the growing victimisation of Muslims by the Hindutva vigilante groups and even boycott of Muslim businesses and vendors by ordinary Hindus.

Muslims have witnessed boycotts, discrimination and attacks after the fake news and hate propaganda launched in the Indian media as well as social media. Activists and officials from the Gulf countries have been taking notice of these attacks on the Twitter. Many Indian expats in the Gulf have been booked for making vitriolic and abusive comments against Islam and Muslims.

The unprecedented outrage in the Gulf has been so widespread that Prime Minister Modi and foreign minister S Jaishankar have had to intervene calling their counterparts across the Arab world in the last couple of days.
