Allahabad Court Grants Bail to Islamic Preacher Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui in Conversion Case

NEW DELHI – Prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday.

The Islamic scholar, behind bars for over 500 days, was arrested under the anti-conversion law by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) in September 2021.

Advocate S.M. Rehman Faiz, Brij Mohan Sahai and Zia-Ul Qayum Jilani appeared and argued in the bail hearing for Maulana Siddiqui, reports here said.

Maulana Siddiqui is a well-known propagator from Phulat, Uttar Pradesh. He is also president of the Global Peace Center and Jamia Imam Waliullah Trust.

The UP ATS accused him of engaging in the propagation of Islam and forcefully converting people.

Maulana Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi Jahangir Quasmi are still under arrest and languishing in jail under the same anti-conversion law since June 2021.
