RIYADH — The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), has condemned the Syrian regime and its allies’ “continued barbaric bombardment” of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, which has left hundreds of civilians either dead or injured.
The Kuwait News Agency said, “The GCC Member States denounce the heinous crimes committed against unarmed civilians of Aleppo,” GCC Secretary-General, Abdulatif Al Zayani, said.
“These are crimes against humanity.”
He added that the GCC states are urging the United Nations Security Council, and the countries brokering the recent ceasefire in Syria, to take action to stop such escalation.
Zayani blamed the Syrian regime and its supporters for the brutal attacks and airstrikes on civilian targets in Aleppo.
Saudi Arabia also expressed condemnation and denunciation of the attacks waged by Basher Al Assad’s forces on Aleppo.
In a statement, an official source at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the terrorist act ignores the cessation of hostilities agreement, and is contrary to international laws and ethical principles of humanity, as it seeks to pre-empt international efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis and prevent deliverance of humanitarian aid to the Syrian brotherly people.
