AIMIM Manages to Secure Win on Two Seats in Maharashtra

MUMBAI – All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), which fought on 43 seats in 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections managed to secure a win on two seats getting around 1.40 percent votes in the state.

Shah Farooq Anwar of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen’s won from the Dhule city assembly and Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique emerged victorious on Malegaon Central.

Anwar bagged over 46679 votes. He was followed by Loksangram’s Anil Gote who managed to get 42432 votes. Anwar’s total vote percent stood at 28.93

The total number of votes cast in the polls here were 161342, of which 1039 were cast using postal means.

Hilal Lala Mali of Shiv Sena got 22267 votes while as Samajwadi party’s Mansuri Asif Inayat secured a meager 798 votes. Here ten candidates were in the fray. Out of these ten, four fought independently

In Maharashtra, the incumbent BJP and Shiv Sena are set to form the government. The state has a total of 288 legislative assembly seats.

In Malegaon central, Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique defeated Congress’ Asif Sheikh Rasheed by 38519 votes. Khalique managed to get 117242 (58.52 %) votes while Rasheed secured 78723 votes (39.29 %).

Of the 13 candidates who fought polls here, 12 were Muslims including ten independent candidates.  Bhartiya Janta Party’s Dipali Vivek Warule got only 1438 votes.

Except for Khalique and Rasheed, no other candidate was able to even touch 1% mark.

Earlier AIMIM’s Dr. Abdul Gaffar Quadri Syed was leading on the Aurangabad East segment however as the day progressed BJP’s Atul Moreshwar Save went ahead of him. As per the latest data from the Election Commission of India, Save got a vote share of 48% while Syed stood at 40.97%.

The party was also showed lead on Solapur Central briefly but later the Congress managed to leave AIMIM behind.

The firebrand incumbent MLA advocate Waris Pathan from Byculla constituency could not manage to win this time. He was defeated by Yamini Yashwant Jadhav of Shiv Sena who bagged 51180 votes while Pathan could only get 31157.
