Accused of Terror Links, Muslim Youth from Meerut Maintains His Innocence

Date:

After the lookout notice and arrest of two alleged associates, Aaqib Khan issues a fresh video denying all charges; UP police continue investigation

MEERUT — Maintaining his innocence, a Muslim youth, accused of anti-national activities and terror links, has released another video, the third in the series, denying all allegations against him.

The video was released by Aaqib Khan, a resident of Meerut, on Saturday, after coming under the scanner of security agencies over alleged anti-national activities.

In the latest video, Khan says he will not accept allegations against him under any circumstances.

“I may be killed or released, but I will not allow the label of terrorism to be put on me,” he says in the video.

Security agencies have been monitoring Khan closely following allegations that he may have links with certain extremist networks. A lookout notice has already been issued against him, and the investigation has gathered pace after the arrest of two individuals believed to be close to him — Ubaid Malik and Jalal Haider.

According to police sources, the arrests were made as part of the ongoing probe into suspected connections and activities. Officials claim that further investigation is underway to verify the extent of any possible links.

Khan used his latest video to respond to statements made by Abhishek Yash, a senior police officer involved in the case. At the start of the video, he praises the officer and says, “You protect the country and do not allow injustice to innocent people. I respect you.”

Khan goes on to claim that he has not committed any unlawful act and says that he possesses “strong evidence” to prove his innocence. He adds that these materials have been kept safe and will be presented at an appropriate time.

“I have solid proof that I am innocent,” he says.

However, in the same video, Khan admits that he has targeted individuals online who make comments against his religion or any other religion. He says that he has abused such individuals verbally and adds, “If this is a crime, then I am ready to be punished for it.”

This admission is likely to be examined as part of the wider investigation, particularly in the context of online behaviour and possible incitement.

Police officials have not issued a detailed public response to Khan’s latest video but have reiterated that the investigation is based on evidence and due process. A senior officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “All aspects are being looked into. Action will be taken strictly as per law.”

The case has drawn attention due to the use of social media by the accused to present his version of events while the investigation is still ongoing. Experts say such videos can influence public perception, but do not replace legal scrutiny.

Meerut residents have expressed mixed reactions. One resident said, “We don’t know what is true, but the matter should be handled carefully and fairly.” Another added, “If he is innocent, he should get justice. If not, the law must take its course.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to examine digital records, communication links, and other evidence to establish the facts. For now, the claims made by Khan in his videos remain part of his defence, while the police maintain that the probe is ongoing.

The coming days are likely to be crucial in determining the direction of the case, as both the allegations and the defence come under closer legal and investigative review.
