Celebrated by locals and family, the Madhubani student credits his success to parental support, dedicated teachers, and a disciplined journey from village school to Kota coaching
MADHUBANI – Abdullah, a student from Aunsi Bichla Tola in Bisfi block of Bihar’s Madhubani district, has emerged as the state topper in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2025 by scoring an impressive 99.99 percentile, as per the results released at the weekend by the National Testing Agency (NTA) based on both sessions of the exam.
With only 24 students across India securing 100 percentile this year — a sharp drop from last year’s 54 — Abdullah’s near-perfect score has drawn widespread praise, not just from his family but also from neighbours, teachers, and the broader community.
After hearing the result, Abdullah’s home turned into a celebration hub. Relatives, neighbours, and well-wishers poured in to congratulate the young achiever, who humbly attributed his success to the guidance and sacrifices of his parents, uncle, and school teachers.
“Hard work and a focused mind can help you achieve any goal,” said Abdullah while speaking to reporters. “My next aim is to crack IIT and be among the top there too.”
Abdullah received his early education at a local government school in his village. He completed his intermediate education from Darbhanga and later moved to Kota in Rajasthan, a well-known hub for engineering aspirants, for focused JEE preparation.
His father, Sabir Hussain, is a contractual schoolteacher in Aunsi Goth, while his mother is a homemaker. Speaking with pride and emotion, Sabir said, “My son has brought glory to the entire district. Scoring 99.99 percentile in such a competitive exam is no small feat. We are proud of him.”
Abdullah’s uncle, Noor Alam, who is also a schoolteacher at Madhya Vidyalaya Babhangama, played an active role in encouraging the young boy’s academic dreams.
“The atmosphere at home has always been educational. It gave Abdullah the right mindset to stay committed to his studies,” Noor Alam said.
The boy’s achievement is being seen as a ray of hope in a region that often struggles with educational infrastructure and limited resources. Locals also expressed their happiness. One of them said, “In a time when communal and ideological divisions dominate headlines, young people like Abdullah give us something to truly celebrate — merit, honesty, and ambition.”
Abdullah’s success stands in contrast to the distractions that student communities, particularly from marginalised and minority backgrounds, often face. With increasing pressure from right-wing student groups like the ABVP in educational institutions and an atmosphere of ideological bias growing under Hindutva-influenced discourse, his story offers a timely reminder of what perseverance and equal opportunity can achieve.
One teacher from Darbhanga who taught Abdullah remarked, “He is calm, curious, and always focused. His journey from a small village school to becoming Bihar’s JEE Mains topper proves that talent knows no boundaries.”
