Bigg Boss 19 Talent Manager Labels Contestant Farhana Bhatt a ‘Terrorist’

Roshan Garry describes Farhana as ‘evil’ and a ‘terrorist,’ reigniting attention on a previous clash between Farhana and another contestant, Amaal Malik, inside the Bigg Boss house

NEW DELHI — Symptomatic of the growing intolerance and marginalisation of Muslims, particularly Kashmiris, in the country, writer and talent manager Roshan Garry sparked outrage after labelling Bigg Boss 19 contestant Farhana Bhatt a “terrorist” due to her Kashmiri background.

Farhana Bhatt, who hails from Kashmir, has appeared in several films and music videos and continues to work in the entertainment industry.

The comment has come in for a wide condemnation online, with many netizens criticising Garry’s hate speech and pointing out the dangers of normalising such rhetoric. The controversy is particularly significant given the historical context of Kashmiri Muslims facing persecution and marginalisation in the country.

Garry, believed to be the aunt of Bigg Boss contestant Amaal Malik, described Farhana as “evil” and a “terrorist,” reigniting attention on a previous clash between Farhana and Amaal inside the Bigg Boss house, according to a Kashmiriyat report.

Garry’s remark has taken the controversy beyond the reality show. Critics say calling Farhana a “terrorist” crosses ethical boundaries and reinforces harmful stereotypes against Kashmiris. Activists and netizens have described the comment as Islamophobic and dangerous.

One X user, Kshijtij Ojha, wrote, “Mind you, this is only coming because Farhana is a Kashmiri. The Muslims living in Bombay somehow think they are superior and that’s exactly what they are trying to show. It’s a pity that she so casually calls her a terrorist.”
