Following a tragic assault in Kulheri village, Muntalib succumbed to injuries inflicted by local youths involved in a longstanding feud
MUZAFFARNAGAR — A 24-year-old youth, Muntalib, was brutally beaten to death in this Uttar Pradesh city on Monday night, in an incident that has sent shockwaves through his village and the broader community. The attack followed a longstanding personal feud over a previous bike collision.
According to police reports, Muntalib, a resident of Kulheri village in the Charthawal police station area, was lured to a local grocery shop by a fellow villager, Sahman, who had previously been involved in a dispute with him. Sahman’s associate, Sajid, was already at the shop when Muntalib arrived.
“After Muntalib came to the store, both men began assaulting him violently,” said a senior police officer. “He was beaten so severely that he fell unconscious. When his family arrived, the assailants had already fled.”
Muntalib was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital by his family, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. His body was later taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
Local residents expressed anger and concern over the attack. “This was a targeted act of violence. Muntalib was known in the village as a gentle and hardworking young man,” said a neighbour who requested anonymity. “It is heartbreaking that such incidents continue to threaten Muslim families in our area.”
Uttar Pradesh police, led by SP City Satyanarayan Prajapat, have launched an intensive investigation. “We received information from Kulheri village regarding a man being assaulted and killed. Our teams, including CO Sadar and other field units, immediately inspected the scene,” said SP Prajapat.
He added, “We are taking strict legal action under the relevant sections of the IPC. A dedicated team has been formed to identify all the accused and bring them to justice swiftly. The safety of all residents, especially members of vulnerable communities, remains our priority.”
The incident has raised concerns among local Muslim communities, who feel increasingly vulnerable to targeted attacks stemming from personal disputes. “It is not just about one man; it is about the fear that such violence spreads across our community,” said a local leader. “We urge the authorities to ensure justice is served and prevent further incidents of this nature.”
Police have initiated raids to apprehend Sahman and Sajid and are collecting additional evidence from the scene. Investigators are also speaking to witnesses to reconstruct the events leading up to the attack.
The death of Muntalib underscores the persistent challenges faced by Muslim residents in areas affected by long-standing feuds and highlights the urgent need for effective law enforcement to protect communities from targeted violence.
