‘Happiness is Not Complete’ for Displaced Palestinians Without Access to Their Homes

GAZA — It’s not complete excitement and happiness for people here as long as they’re not allowed to go back to their homes in the northern part of the Strip.

There are mixed feelings of excitement, but also frustration and anger.

As long as the Israeli military is blocking al-Rashid Street – the only lifeline for Palestinians to move – their happiness is not complete.

We are on the coastal road at the moment, and we’re seeing a lot of people starting to pour into this area, some in vehicles, some on carts drawn by animals. They’re waiting for confirmation [that it’s safe to go back]. — Al Jazeera
