TUMAKURU — A Muslim woman teacher conducting a social and educational survey was allegedly subjected to derogatory abuse and forced to leave the village in an incident reported from Bhimasandra, near Tumakuru city in Karnataka.
The teacher, Reshma, had been appointed to carry out the socio-economic and educational census conducted by the Permanent Commission for Backward Classes. While visiting Bhimasandra village as part of the assigned survey, she was reportedly confronted by locals who questioned her presence, Vartha Bharati reported.
According to reports, villagers confronted her with questions such as, “Why have you come to Hindu houses? Show your ID card,” and publicly taunted her, asking whether she had come “to include them in her community.”
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and condemnation. Authorities have begun an investigation into the matter.
