Massive Protests in UP Cities Against Narsinghanand’s Blasphemous Remarks

Scholars, politicians, and citizens staged large demonstrations condemning the Hindutva leader’s offensive remarks about Prophet Muhammad, calling for strict legal measures against him

NEW DELHI – Gangoh and Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh witnessed widespread protests against Yati Narsinghanand after his recent comments about Prophet Muhammad.

The remarks sparked outrage among the Muslim community and thousands of demonstrators, including scholars, political leaders, and local citizens, gathered to express their anger and submitted memorandums demanding strict action.

On Monday, a large crowd assembled at Qureshiyan Chowk in Gangoh, raising slogans condemning Narsinghanand. They demanded that the government take firm measures to punish him under strict laws. SDM Sangeeta Raghu and CO Circle visited the site to receive the memorandum, which called for action under the National Security Act (NSA) against the Hindutva proponent.

A protestor stated, “Our anger is not against the administration, it is against the shameless Narsinghanand. We will not tolerate any insult to the honour of Prophet Muhammad under any circumstances.”

Similarly, in Shahjahanpur, the Muslim community led by Samajwadi Party leader Mumtaz Alam gathered at Jhanda Chowk, marched through the town, and submitted a memorandum to town outpost in-charge Ajay Deep in the name of the governor. Demonstrators demanded a formal report be filed against Narsinghanand and urged that he be immediately sent to jail.

The memorandum described Narsinghanand’s remarks as “extremely insulting, objectionable and intolerable,” highlighting that his statements had hurt not only religious sentiments but also social and moral values of the wider community. It demanded a full investigation into his past and present conduct, the registration of a case, and immediate legal action.

Officials noted that Yati Narsinghanand has a history of making controversial statements, which have led to previous police action. Despite warnings, he has reportedly continued to make provocative remarks, further angering the Muslim community.

A local scholar expressed, “It is the duty of the authorities to protect the honour of Prophet Muhammad and ensure that those who insult sacred beliefs are held accountable. The community will continue to raise its voice until justice is done.”

Protests in both towns reflected a unified stance from the Muslim community, demanding justice and warning that any further insults to religious sentiments would not be tolerated. Citizens emphasised the need for strict legal action to prevent repeated disrespect towards sacred figures.

The demonstrations ended peacefully, but the community made it clear that their resolve to defend the honour of Prophet Muhammad remains firm, with calls for government authorities to take immediate and strong measures against Narsinghanand.
