Hate Posters in Bihar’s Darbhanga Call for Expulsion of Muslims, Sikhs

Date:

Communal posters shock residents with locals and leaders questioning motives, alleging a conspiracy to divide communities and gain political advantage during election season.

DARBHANGA — While the nation celebrated Independence Day with pride and unity, residents of Raza Chowk in Darbhanga district woke up to a disturbing sight of objectionable posters pasted in a public place, openly targeting Indian Muslims and Sikhs with hate-filled slogans.

As shown in the viral nideo, miscreants took to the street carrying placards with slogans like “Sikhs/Muslims Quit India” and “Both are terr0rists” and thereafter pasted the posters in public places.

The slogans, written in bold, poisonous words, read: “Sardars and Muslims leave India,” “Sardars and Muslims are terrorists of the country,” “Azan should be stopped in India,” and “Muslims slaughter cows on Bakrid.”

The incident took place in the Singhwada police station area, where people from different faiths have lived together in relative peace for decades. On the morning of 15 August, while children held the Tricolour and houses proudly flew the national flag, these hateful posters appeared to be in stark contrast to the spirit of freedom and brotherhood the day is meant to symbolise.

Police were immediately called by shocked residents, and the banners were taken down. SK Suman, Sadar DSP Kamtaul, told reporters: “Whoever is behind this incident will not be spared. The law will take its own course, and arrests will be made soon.”

Locals believe this was no random act. With Bihar in election season, suspicion has fallen on those trying to create communal unrest for political gain.

Former MLA Rishi Mishra visited the site and said: “This has never happened in the Singhwada area. Communal forces are behind this, and they want to destroy the peace of our society. The administration must take strong action.”

For the Muslim community in particular, the language used in the posters was deeply hurtful and threatening. Imam Barak Hasan Ansari, from the local mosque, said: “There was no such atmosphere here before. I do not know who is doing this or why. But I know one thing we will not be divided. People of all religions will unite to stop such evil.”

This area has a history of peaceful coexistence between Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and others. But the incident has caused both concern and anger. Local elder Abdul Rahman said: “We must ask who benefits from making Hindus and Muslims fight? And who suffers? It is always the poor and ordinary people who suffer, while politicians gain.”

Several respected citizens gathered to discuss the matter, pointing to the suspicious timing. “Ahead of elections, such incidents are rarely a coincidence,” said another community member. “It looks like a planned conspiracy to create tension for votes. We must be vigilant.”

The incident has reinforced a wider fear among Indian Muslims that political elements could be targeting their dignity and safety for short-term electoral advantage. At the same time, the calls for unity have been strong.

Local resident Shabnam Begum said: “We will not fall into their trap. Independence means living together with respect. Those who try to destroy that are not patriots they are enemies of India.”

Police investigations are ongoing, but the message from the people of Darbhanga is clear: they will not allow hate-mongers to succeed in dividing communities that have stood together for generations.
