The prime minister buckled under US pressure and pushed for a ceasefire because his friend Adani was in trouble, says AAP leader
NEW DELHI — The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of running the government to serve his corporate friends while burdening ordinary Indians with high fuel prices.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that while India purchased crude oil from Russia at heavily discounted rates, petrol and diesel prices remain between ₹95 and ₹104 per litre. “If India is buying cheap oil, why are Indians not getting it at cheaper rates?” Singh asked.
He accused the prime minister of prioritising the interests of industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani over the welfare of ordinary Indians.
The AAP leader claimed that Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, bought 77 million barrels of discounted Russian crude in six months, refined it, and sold it abroad, earning ₹50,000 crore in profits. “This benefit should have gone to the public, not to one billionaire. Instead of helping farmers and the common man, Modi ensured his friends got richer,” Singh claimed.
The AAP lawmaker said the prime minister owes the country an explanation: “How much money was saved by buying Russian crude, and how much of that saving reached the people? The truth is, not a single rupee benefited citizens. It all went into the pockets of Modi’s friends.”
Singh further alleged that Modi is “auctioning the country” to Adani and Ambani, pointing to the government’s silence when Adani faced a legal case in the US. “Modi buckled under US pressure and pushed for a ceasefire because his friend Adani was in trouble,” Singh claimed.
Calling the Russian crude deal “a scam worth lakhs of crores,” Singh demanded a high-level investigation. “Modi is lying to the nation. He is playing a multi-billion-rupee game to protect his crony capitalist friends,” he asserted.
