Attack hits so-called ‘safe zone’ in Khan Younis, including a tent sheltering displaced families

GAZA CITY — At least 11 Palestinians were killed and many injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to sources.

The Israeli military targeted a tent sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis, killing at least six people, including two children, said sources.

The area had previously been designated as a “safe zone” by Israel.

In a separate strike on a home in central Gaza City, five Palestinians were killed and several were wounded.

The Israeli army also continued demolishing homes and buildings with explosives in parts of Khan Younis.

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has waged a genocidal war on Gaza that has led to nearly 60,000 casualties, massive displacement and destruction, drawing international condemnation and calls for a ceasefire. — AA
