The AIMIM leader said Operation Sindoor should not be stopped until the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack are found
NEW DELHI – The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) supremo and Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, has launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raising serious questions over the integrity of the electoral process and national security.
Reacting to the Election Commission’s drive to revise the voter list in Bihar by identifying “foreign infiltrators,” Owaisi juxtaposed it with the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
Speaking at a public event at Telangana’s Bodhan town on Wednesday night, Owaisi tore into the Narendra Modi government and said, “You claim to find foreigners in Bihar’s voter list, but can’t find the terrorists who killed innocent tourists in Pahalgam. Where is your state machinery? Where is your intelligence network? You are quick to label people in Bihar and Assam, but fail to protect your own citizens from terrorism.”
Owaisi said that Operation Sindoor should not be stopped until the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack are found. He further warned that he would continue to ask tough questions until all four terrorists are located.
“Were you sleeping? Was your administration sitting with their eyes shut while terrorists entered and killed our Hindu brothers?” Owaisi asked.
Owaisi also took a dig at Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who took full responsibility for the Pahalgam incident. “Now in July, you’re admitting your mistake.” The Pahalgam attack took place on April 22.
In a recent interview, Sinha told the Times of India that what happened in Pahalgam was very unfortunate. “Innocent people were brutally killed. I take full responsibility for the incident, which was undoubtedly a security failure. The common belief here has been that terrorists do not target tourists. The location where the attack took place is an open meadow,” he said.
The AIMIM chief also exhorted Prime Minister Modi to focus on what was happening in the neighbourhood, claiming that India has been surrounded by China on all sides.
He ended his speech saying, Pahalgam is a “prime example of PM Modi government’s security lapse.”
The Hyderabad MP’s remarks come amid a broader political storm following the Election Commission’s identification campaign in Bihar. Several opposition leaders have alleged that the drive disproportionately targets minorities and marginalised communities under the garb of weeding out “illegal voters.”
Owaisi questioned the timing and motive of the EC’s exercise. “Whenever elections approach, the BJP and its machinery start this drama of ‘detecting Bangladeshis’. It’s just a pretext to disenfranchise Muslims and stir communal sentiment,” he alleged.
Opposition parties, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, have also criticised the EC’s move, calling it politically motivated and unconstitutional.
