US Attacks on Iran Are Blatant Violation of UN Charter, Assert Premier Muslim Bodies

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind call upon global action to prevent a Middle East catastrophe

NEW DELHI — Two premier Muslim organisations in the country, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (Mahmood Madani faction) and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, have strongly condemned the US bombing of Iran, calling it a blatant violation of international agreements and the United Nations Charter.

In separate statements issued here on Monday, they said that Israel has now become the epicentre of bloodshed and terrorism in West Asia, with full protection from the United States.

Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, the chief of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, called the US action a blatant violation of international agreements and the United Nations Charter. He said that America has consistently harmed the world through its aggressive policies, and its presence in West Asia has turned from a healing force to a source of poison.

The Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) also criticised the “expansionist ambitions” of Israel. It also urged the Indian government to uphold its historic stance of non-alignment and anti-imperialism.

Calling the attacks “blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter,” the Jamaat expressed grave concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East, warning that the continued bombardment of Iranian nuclear facilities and civilian areas risked pushing the region into a full-scale war with catastrophic humanitarian consequences.

“The unilateral actions of the United States, combined with the silence and complicity of major Western powers, are fuelling instability,” the council stated, adding that the aggression had been undertaken without credible international evidence of Iran breaching nuclear agreements.

The Jamaat also slammed what it called the “double standards” of global powers, noting that while Israeli aggression is justified in the name of self-defence, any Iranian retaliation is branded as terrorism. “Such hypocrisy is a major threat to global peace and justice,” it asserted.

Calling on the Indian government to uphold its historic stance of non-alignment and anti-imperialism, the Jamaat urged New Delhi to initiate a diplomatic effort for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation. It further appealed to the international community to prosecute Israeli war crimes, halt attacks on nuclear and civilian targets, and press for an end to US-Israeli hostilities.
