Congress leader Pawan Khera said that stopping the war was a political decision taken by Modi under pressure from Trump. Otherwise, he added, the country’s defence forces were headed for a decisive victory.
NEW DELHI — Doubling down on its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Rahul Gandhi’s remark “Narendra, surrender”, the Congress today reiterated that Modi is a coward Prime Minister and the country’s future is in danger because of his cowardice.
Taking a veiled dig at PM Modi while addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here on Wednesday, party spokesperson and the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Department Pawan Khera said “The truth of this person is – Naam Narender, kaam surrender.”
Khera also remarked, “Modi ji’s followers had been making the movie ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ for the last 11 years, it turned out to be ‘Narendra Ka Surrender’”
Replying to a question about the BJP’s accusation that by suggesting that Modi had surrendered, the Congress was insulting the defence forces, Khera firmly reiterated that the Congress party was proud of the armed forces ofthe country and emphasised that Modi could-not be equated with the country or its defence forces.
According to him, during the recent hostilities the defence forces brought Pakistan down to its knees. Had Modi not surrendered, Pakistan would have fallen flat on its face and many long pending issues and problems could have been resolved once and for all, Khera asserted.
He underlined that stopping the war was a political decision taken by Modi under pressure from Trump. Otherwise, he added, the country’s defence forces were headed for a decisive victory.
“On May 10 when our defence forces had a decisive upper hand, Trump called Modi and he surrendered meekly”, he claimed, while pointing out, Trump has been repeatedly saying it since then that he forced the ceasefire by using the ‘trade threat’.
Dismissing the BJP’s charges that the Congress was questioning the valour of the armed forces, Khera said, the decision to end the war was political. He made it categorically clear that when they question Modi and say he is a coward, it does not imply that the nation or its defence forces are like that. “Modi is not India and India is not Modi”, he asserted, while remarking, “Modi is one of the 1.4 billion Indians, but a coward.”
He said Modi has a history marked by eleven years of cowardice, surrender and backing out. He said not only has he surrendered now but he has also backed out on all his promises like bringing back the black money, providing jobs and doubling the income of farmers.
Khera said the opposition was raising questions on behalf of the taxpayers of the country, who have been financing the foreign trips of the Prime Minister and purchase of weapons.
He pointed out, the government was still tight-lipped about what happened to the terrorists who killed 26 innocent people in Pahalgam. He said, the intelligence agencies have indicated that they were the same terrorists who were involved in other terror incidents before Pahalgam including earlier attacks in Gulmarg, Ganderbal and Poonch and they were still roaming free.
Khera said the government had not told the country so far as to “what were the terms and conditions of the ceasefire agreement and what was the status of the terrorists like Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed” and adding that these questions were on every Indian’s mind and the government could not avoid answering them.
The Congress spokesperson challenged the Prime Minister to bring a policy to ban Chinese imports. But, he observed, PM Modi would not take such a step, as he is too scared of China to do that and he never dares even to mention its name, leave aside taking any action.
