The BJP government compromised national interests by alerting a state known for harbouring terrorists ahead of a planned military operation, says Sanjay Singh
NEW DELHI — A huge controversy has erupted in the corridors of political power in the national capital after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar admitted that Pakistan was informed in advance about Operation Sindoor. The foreign minister’s comments have drawn fierce criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which termed the disclosure a “betrayal” of national security and demanded an explanation directly from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the media, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, launched a blistering attack on the Modi government, calling Jaishankar’s admission “nothing short of treason.” Singh accused the government of compromising national interests by alerting a state known for harbouring terrorists ahead of a planned military operation.
“When the external affairs minister publicly admits that Pakistan was alerted before the commencement of Operation Sindoor, it is a betrayal of Bharat Mata and the Indian Army,” Singh said. “This act of informing a terrorist state about an impending strike is shocking and unforgivable.
“PM Modi must now answer how much truth there is in what (US President) Donald Trump has said, and how much truth lies in what Modi’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has claimed,” Singh said.
Quoting Jaishankar’s statement, Singh alleged that the Modi government deliberately shared operational details with Pakistan ahead of the mission targeting terrorist hideouts. He pointed out that this is the same Pakistan where terrorists are given refuge and honoured by the military establishment.
“This is not a small matter. It raises grave questions about the government’s intent and accountability,” Singh said, demanding that Prime Minister Modi address the nation on the issue. “Why was Pakistan told? Was this a directive from the top? The people of India deserve to know the truth.”
The AAP leader further linked the controversy to past comments by Trump, calling for clarity on whose version, Trump’s or Jaishankar’s, is accurate.
“The Modi government must answer. If it has betrayed the armed forces and compromised our security, then the opposition must inform the public and seek accountability,” Singh added.
Operation Sindoor, reportedly a covert strike against terrorist camps, had been hailed as a strategic success by government officials. However, Jaishankar’s recent comments suggesting prior intimation to Pakistan have cast a shadow over the operation and triggered a wider political controversy.
Singh demanded that Modi himself come forward and give answers to the nation. “When the delegation-level talks move forward, the Opposition will raise this issue firmly. We stand strongly with the Indian Army and the country in every duty and every national cause. But if the government betrays the country and the armed forces, then the opposition has to inform the public and bring this truth to light,” he added.
As pressure mounts, the opposition is expected to raise the issue in Parliament, demanding transparency and a detailed explanation from the prime minister.
