In a swift operation, Kolkata Police apprehended Chandan Malakar and Prajnajit Mandal over attempts to stir communal tension

KOLKATA – In a significant operation, Kolkata Police arrested two individuals after they were found to have pasted a Pakistani flag and written “Hindustan Murdabad” on the wall of a toilet near Akaipur railway station, located in the North 24 Parganas district. The police acted swiftly to foil what they believed was an attempt to provoke communal unrest in the area.

The arrested individuals, identified as Chandan Malakar (30) and Prajnajit Mandal (45), were apprehended by officers in Bongaon, a locality near the station, on Wednesday night. Police reports indicate that both men are linked to the controversial political group ‘Sanatani Ekta Manch’. Authorities have expressed grave concern over the malicious nature of their actions.

According to the police, the two men deliberately pasted the Pakistani flag on the wall and wrote anti-national slogans, including “Hindustan Murdabad” (Death to India), with the intent of sowing discord among local communities. The police acted promptly, preventing the situation from escalating.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Bongaon Police confirmed the arrest and outlined their findings. “A Pakistani flag was found on the wall of a toilet near Akaipur railway station on Wednesday night. Further investigation revealed that this act was orchestrated by Chandan Malakar and Prajnajit Mandal. Both individuals have admitted to their plan to not only write ‘Hindustan Murdabad’ but also ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ (Long Live Pakistan),” the police said.

The police assured the public that strict legal action would be taken against the individuals involved, emphasising that they would not tolerate any attempts to incite violence or create communal tensions within the society. “We will take stringent action against such conspirators who aim to disrupt the harmony of our community,” the police added.
