BULANDSHAHR – Tension prevailed in Nagar village, located in the Arnia police station area of Uttar Pradesh city of Khurja, as two parties clashed over the restoration of the Bhumiya Baba statue situated in the middle of a cemetery. However, quick intervention by the police led to a compromise between the parties involved and peace was restored.
The dispute began when one group arrived at the cemetery on Thursday with plans to raise the existing place of worship dedicated to Bhumiya Baba, an ancient religious site in the heart of the cemetery. The statue had been a place of worship for locals for years. However, the move to raise the platform was met with objections from another group, leading to a face-off between the two sides.
As tensions rose, the situation attracted a growing crowd from both sides, prompting concerned locals to inform the authorities. In response, a police team from Arnia police station swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated mediation. Despite their efforts, the dispute intensified, prompting further intervention from senior officers.
CO Vikas Pratap Singh, along with SDM Durgesh Singh, rushed to the site, accompanied by additional teams from Khurja Kotwali and Khurja Dehat. After speaking to representatives from both groups, a mutual agreement was reached.
SDM Durgesh Singh explained, “An agreement has been made to raise the platform of Bhumiya Baba by five feet and to install iron railings around it. No cement will be applied to the railings to maintain the sanctity of the site.”
CO Vikas Pratap Singh emphasised, “The prompt response of the police prevented the situation from escalating further. We have deployed forces in the area to ensure that peace is maintained.”
The compromise reached between the two parties was documented in writing, and both sides agreed to maintain the peace. Police personnel were stationed throughout the day to ensure there were no further incidents.
Locals breathed a sigh of relief as tensions eased, thanks to the timely intervention of law enforcement and the mediation efforts of senior officials. The situation, though initially tense, was resolved without any major confrontations, underscoring the importance of dialogue in resolving community disputes.
