GHAZIPUR — SP MP Afzal Ansari has sharply criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s handling of the Maha Kumbh event and political matters, asserting that India’s future should be guided by the Constitution, not by individual or religious grandeur.

In his statement, Ansari acknowledged the Maha Kumbh as a significant religious event but raised concerns over the growing budget. “The question being raised is whether the budget for Maha Kumbh is being misused. It seems to have become a source of income for contractors,” he stated, noting that even saints and religious leaders have expressed dissatisfaction. He also highlighted that the matter has been brought before the Supreme Court.

On Adityanath’s comments about the Muslim League, Ansari responded, “The country will not be run by the mentality of the Muslim League or the grandeur of Yogi ji.” He emphasised that India’s governance must be rooted in the Constitution, which he described as the nation’s “holy book.”

Ansari also raised alarm over reports such as Elon Musk’s, warning of potential dangers facing the country, calling it “a sign of great danger.”

His comments underscore ongoing tensions in Indian politics, with Ansari calling for a focus on constitutional values to navigate the country’s diverse and complex political landscape.
