Clubhouse App Case: Three Arrested for Obscene Remarks Against Muslim Women

NEW DELHI — Mumbai police have arrested three persons from Haryana in connection with the chat on Clubhouse app, in which obscene comments were allegedly made against Muslim women, an official said on Friday, reports PTI.

One of the three, identified as Kla XD aka Akash, has been arrested from Karnal, while the other two have been apprehended by Faridabad near Delhi.

Police has got three days transit remand for 19-year-old Akash. The other accused are, 21-year-old B.Com student Jeshnav Kakkar and Yash Parashar, who is 22-year-old who is also a law student, according to media reports.

They were arrested on Thursday night by the cyber police station personnel of the Mumbai crime branch, two of the accused were to be produce in a local court later on Friday, official said.

Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi praised the city police for the arrests in the case in a tweet

“Kudos @MumbaiPolice, they have got cracking on the Clubhouse chats too and some arrests have been made. Say no to hate. #Clubhouse,” she said in the tweet.

According to the report, the Delhi police on Wednesday had written to the Clubhouse app and search engine Google, seeking details about the organiser of the alleged audio group chat in which “obscene comments were made against Muslim women”. Official sources had said that the police had also identified some members of the group audio chat, which included men and women from both communities, as part of the investigation.

Earlier this week, a video clip of the Clubhouse chat was shared on microblogging site, Twitter,  in which participants were heard discussing Muslim women under the topic ‘Muslim Gals are more beautiful than Hindu Gals’.
