GAYA — The Bihar government has announced a significant opportunity for unemployed Muslim youth to become bus owners through the ‘Chief Minister’s Rural Transport Scheme’. The state is offering a subsidy of ₹5 lakh to help purchase a bus, aiming to improve transportation services from rural areas to block and district headquarters while creating employment opportunities for the youth.

The second phase of the Chief Minister’s Block Transport Scheme focuses on enhancing rural connectivity and supporting unemployed youth. In Gaya district alone, 161 individuals will benefit from the scheme, with 23 spots reserved for minority communities.

Specifics of the Allocation

•     Minority Quota: Each block will select seven individuals to receive the subsidy, with one bus specifically reserved for a Muslim community candidate.

•     Applicant Requirements: To ensure fair representation, categories include 2 Dalits, 2 Maha Dalits, 1 OBC, 1 general community, and 1 minority community.

•     Online Application: Interested candidates must apply online at the official portal from August 1 to August 25. The subsidy will be credited within seven days post-selection.

Scheme’s Objective

The primary goal is to provide reliable passenger transport from rural areas to district headquarters, simultaneously offering employment to the state’s young population. The scheme supports both large buses and mini buses, with a preference for the latter.

Selection Process

DTO Rajesh Kumar highlighted that applications will be reviewed and categorised by August 28, followed by a selection committee chaired by the district magistrate. The final beneficiary list will be published after resolving any objections from September 2 to 4. The grant will be transferred to the selected beneficiaries’ accounts by the District Transport Officer.

DTO Rajesh Kumar urged members of the minority community to seize this opportunity and apply for the scheme. This initiative not only aims to empower the youth but also ensures inclusive development by reserving specific quotas for minority candidates.

This scheme represents a promising step towards economic empowerment and improved infrastructure in Bihar, offering a golden opportunity for unemployed youth to embark on a path of entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
