3,003 Cr Proposed for Minority Welfare in Telangana Budget

HYDERABAD – The Telangana government has allocated ₹3,003 crore for minority welfare in the state budget 2024.

Presenting the budget in the state assembly here on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, who is also the finance minister, said development and protection of rights of the minorities contribute to the overall development of the state.

The government will continue working on minority welfare, he added.

Deputy CM Mallu mentioned that the government was providing free civil services coaching to students from minority, BC, SC, ST communities. He also proposed ₹5,000 stipend for students studying in their locality and ₹2,500 to local students.

Mallu added that the state government had sanctioned ₹33 crore for this year’s Ramadan celebrations. The government had announced ₹4.43 crore for Haj and had allocated ₹2.4 for the Tablighi Jamaat meeting earlier in January this year, he said.

The government presented a budget of ₹2.91 lakh crore with a total of ₹2.21 lakh crore in revenue and ₹33, 487 crore in capital expenditures.

The total revenues were estimated to be at ₹2.90 lakh crore, including Open Market Loans of over ₹57,000 crore.
