HYDERABAD – Admissions are currently underway in schools and junior colleges under the Telangana Minority Residential Schools Society, with approximately 25,000 seats still vacant.

Addressing the media here recently, Secretary Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society, Ayesha Musarat Khanum (IAS), urged the minority communities to consider enrolling their children in these institutions known for providing quality education.

Khanum acknowledged that the admission process faced challenges due to the election code of conduct, which disrupted awareness campaigns over the past six months. Despite this, she highlighted an increase in enrollment, with over 90,000 students currently attending residential schools, up from 83,000 last year.

Notably, there are 30,000 seats available under the non-minority quota, nearly all of which have been filled. Responding to public representatives’ requests, Khanum confirmed that over 200 non-minority students were admitted under the minority quota seats, citing provisions under the Right to Education Act that allow such admissions.

Efforts are underway to fill the remaining 25,000 spots through an ongoing admission campaign. The Residential Schools Society, comprising 204 schools upgraded to junior colleges and 12 vocational colleges, includes 107 schools for boys and 97 for girls.

Secretary Khanum also announced the approval for a new girls’ school in Janur mandal of Asifabad district to further expand educational opportunities.

In addition to regular staff, outsourcing personnel have been employed with government approval. These appointments are overseen by a committee led by the district collector, comprising the district minority welfare officer and the regional director.
