The state government’s intentions are questioned as students miss deadlines to enroll in universities

NEW DELHI – The Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board, based in Lucknow, held exams in February 2024. However, an inordinate delay in announcing the results has left students and teachers very disappointed.

Maulana Jameel Ahmad Nizami, District President of Teachers Association Madaris Arabia in Uttar Pradesh, expressed his concerns: “The results of all other boards have been announced, but the results of the Madrasa Board have not been released. About 1,80,000 students in the state are now worried about their future.” He pointed out that many students are unable to enroll themselves in colleges and universities because the admission deadlines are closing in.

“The government claims that madrasa students will learn both religion and worldly knowledge, with a laptop in one hand and the Qur’an in the other,” Maulana Nizami said. “The exams were held in February but results have not yet been announced. This raises serious questions about the government’s intentions.”

He added, “118,000 students are struggling with their future and feeling stuck. Many students wanting to go to university will now miss the admission deadlines and may have to turn to farming or business instead. This is due to the negligence of the Madrasa Education Board. Who will take responsibility for ruining the future of these students? Will it be the Uttar Pradesh government or the Madrasa Board?”

Priyanka Awasthi, Registrar of the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board, said: “The processing work is ongoing, and we hope to announce the results by May 30.”
