NEW DELHI – The Khidmatgar Committee, a prominent organisation representing the Muslim community in the national capital, has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to ensure special facilities for Muslims during the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan.
Committee’s president Haji Muhammad Taqi and general secretary Muhammad Tahir have jointly emphasised the importance of providing additional support during Ramadan. They highlighted the necessity for extended water supply during Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (breaking of fast), a practice maintained in previous years to ease the fasting process.
In their statement, Taqi and Tahir urged authorities not to enforce electricity cuts throughout the month of Ramadan. They also called for prompt repairs of street lights and a comprehensive cleaning campaign to ensure the hygiene and safety of the streets, particularly during the morning and evening hours.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, the committee emphasised the need for repairing broken sewer lines and improving road conditions in slum areas where many Muslims reside. They also stressed the importance of efficient garbage collection, especially during the fasting period, to maintain cleanliness and sanitation.

The committee underscored the significance of minimising traffic congestion, particularly during Iftar time, in the walled city of Delhi.
