NEW DELHI– A 24-year-old Muslim youth, identified as Afsar Ali, lost his life after a minor road accident turned into a nightmarish confrontation on a road in Bhiwadi in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district on Tuesday.
The incident occurred as Afsar and his friend, Tahibul, were heading home from a factory in the Ghatal area of the city. The incident took place after a minor collision with a heavy vehicle while they were walking on the road. Three persons, one of them identified as Ashish Pal Gurjar and who has since been arrested, attacked Afsar and his friend with rods, Additional Superintendent of Police Dilip Saini said. Tahibul managed to escape, but Afsar suffered severe injuries and fell unconscious. The attackers fled the scene in a car, media reports quoted the police official as saying.
Authorities are actively searching for the remaining two suspects and the vehicle involved. The matter is being fully investigated, Saini said.
Afsar, originally from Samastipur in Bihar, has been working in a local factory for eight years. After the attack, Tahibul rushed Afsar to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 302/34 of the IPC. The victim’s body has been sent to his village in Bihar after a postmortem.
