NEW DLEHI – Activists, on Monday, made an appeal to the Central government and the police to take immediate action against the people behind the songs with toxic lyrics calling for violence against Muslims. The fact that such offensive content is flooding social media platforms reflects on the impunity the culprits enjoy.

A Haryanvi song, which has come into the limelight recently, talks of taking up arms. They lyrics glorify Yati Narsinganand, who was arrested for organising a meet in Haridwar where calls for genocide of Muslims were given. Titled “Narsimhanand Jagave (Awakening by Narsinganand)” the song was uploaded on YouTube last year in May.

The song, composed by Upendra Rana, features Narsinganand and his Desna temple along with gun and sword wielding men. It starts with showing the poster of Dasna temple in which it is written “Muslims’ entry is prohibited in this temple”.

At one place, the singer, Rana, said our land was taken away to establish Islamic country, but Hindus have been cheated by not making it (India) Hindu Nation. At another place, he flaunts guns and says, “Unite under Sanatan Dharam, take up arms for religion.” Narsinganand is also the one who urged Hindus to take up arms at Haridwar’s Dharam Sansad.

Rana calls Narsinganand his mentor.

“I met him in his temple. He is like a mentor to me. When I told him I wanted to make a video on him, he gave me Rs 2,100 as his blessing,” he was quoted by The Print as saying.

The song has been watched on YouTube over 1.70 lakh times. Similarly, Rana’s other songs too have men wielding weapons. Apart from Narsinganand, he also created songs to glorify Yogi Adityanath, who is set to become Uttar Pradesh chief minister for the second time.

Navaid Hamid, President of All India Muslim Majlis Mushawrat (AIMMM), tweeted a report about this song saying that Hindutva brigade is preparing ground for genocide.

Talking to Clarion India, Hamid said that such songs are aimed at arousing passions and hatred in the Hindu community.

“It is preparing innocent youth to be part of a militia which is in fact against the ethos of the Constitution. Silence of law enforcement agencies itself is a criminal act,” he said, adding that the inaction by the government exposes the intention of the government.

“The uploading of such militant songs is a soft exercise to mentally prepare Hindu youth for the genocide of Muslim community,” he said.

Delhi University Professor Apoorvanand called such songs “illegal” and “unconstitutional”.

“These songs aim at dividing the society. This is an extremely dangerous trend being set in India. People don’t even feel like something wrong is happening,” he lamented.

He urged the government and the police to take action against such songs. “Anti-social elements will definitely make such songs, but what is the government doing? Leave the government aside, what is the police doing? The police take suo moto action in many matters. They should do the same in this case too,” he said.
