"I'm proud of my elder brother. People are raising questions about his security, but God will keep him safe as he is fighting for the country and is on the path of truth," said Priyanka

GHAZIABAD — As the Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, AICC General Secretary in-charge of UP, Priyanka Gandhi, welcomed the Yatra at the Loni border and called his elder brother Rahul Gandhi a ‘warrior’. She said her brother is not afraid of the might of the government which spent thousands of crores to destroy his image.

Welcoming BJY as it entered into Uttar Pradesh from Delhi Priyanka said that the big industrialists like Adani and Ambani may have bought many a politician, PSUs and the media, but “they have not been, and will never be, able to buy my brother,” reports PTI.

Addressing the Yatra, Priyanka Gandhi said, “I’m proud of my elder brother. People are raising questions about his security, but God will keep him safe as he is fighting for the country and is on the path of truth.”

She said that as the Yatra moves towards Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, people should remember that unity is key to development.

“The BJP spent spent crores of rupees to tarnish his (Rahul Gandhi’s) image, but nobody can buy my brother,” she said.

People say Rahul Gandhi does not feel cold even in winter, this is because “he is wearing the shield of truth,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

Priyanka said she was proud of welcoming the yatra, which entered UP traversing 3,000 kms from Kanyakumari.

“Look at my elder brother, I take the maximum pride in you. Because the establishment put all its pressure. The government spent thousands of crores to destroy his image.

“But, he did not deter from the path of truth. Agencies were deployed but he did not feel afraid, as he is a warrior,” she said to thunderous applause at the Loni border here.

“Adani ji, Ambani ji brought big politicians, bought all PSUs, the media, but they could not buy my brother and will never be able to do so. I am proud of him and of everyone else,” she also said.

Priyanka, also the AICC general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, said Rahul has opened “the shop” to spread love in the “market of hatred” and was marching to unite the people.

“I urge everyone in Uttar Pradesh to open a franchise of this ‘mohabbat ki dukaan’ (shop to spread love),” she said.

From Uttar Pradesh, the Yatra will proceed to Haryana (January 6-10), Punjab (January 11-20), spend a day in between in Himachal Pradesh (January 19), before moving towards its last leg in Jammu and Kashmir on the evening of January 20.

The Yatra will culminate in Srinagar on January 30 with the hoisting of the national flag. (With inputs from PTI)
