Martyred Colonel’s Family Gets Telangana Largesse, Wife Gazetted Post as Ex Gratia

HYDERABAD – Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, June 22, visited the residence of Col Santosh Babu in Suryapet to pay homage to the departed soldier, who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in line of duty, and offer condolences to his family.

The CM met Santoshi, wife of the colonel, his children, Aniruddh and Abhigna, and his parents. During the visit, he handed B Upender and Manjula – the parents of the martyr cheques Rs.1 crore to, of Rs 4 crore to B Santoshi along with documents of 711 square yards of land near KBR Park in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad as ex-gratia.

On the occasion, the CM also gave the widow of the brave son of the soil her appointment letter for the post of commercial tax officer – a group 1 posting. She has to report within 30 days to the commissioner of the Commercial Taxes Department.

Col Santosh Babu was martyred at the LAC (line of actual control) on June 15 at Glawan Valley of Ladakh by People’s Liberation Army of China.

The CM said that even though the Central government has extended support to the military personnel’s bereaved families, the state governments should also come forward to help them as this gives confidence to the military personnel that the entire country is with them.
