ABU DHABI, Nov 10 — In line with the directives of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE on Sunday announced support and assistance program and projects worth $10 million (Dh36.7 million) to the Philippines.

The UAE extended its deepest sympathies over the loss of life and property caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The UAE reaffirmed its stand by the people of the Philippines in these tragic circumstances and commended the Government of the Philippines and its emergency workers for making all possible efforts in providing aid and relief to the victims.

The UAE said that the international community must stand together in times like these and assist in relief efforts. With this contribution, the UAE Government affirms its deep solidarity with those affected by this natural disaster in the Philippines. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this terrible tragedy and their families,” a statement said.

Shaikh Khalifa sent a cable of condolence to Benigno Aquino, President of the Philippines, expressing his heartfelt condolences to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Shaikh Khalifa wished the injured a speedy recovery as well as his wishes for the country to overcome these difficult times.–Wam
