Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat: When Kashmir Meets Tamil Nadu

 CHENNAI – In the ongoing Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat campaign, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is paired with Tamil Nadu and the exchange of activities under the theme are going on in the southern state.

In the last week of August 2020, the institutes of Hotel Management at Srinagar and Chennai, under the Ministry of Tourism, Government  of India organised an online programme on “Fascinating Folk Dances of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territories of Jammu and  Kashmir & Ladakh”. Students from both the institutes performed their folk dances which enthralled the online audience.

The students had recorded their cultural presentations and shared their videos online. The performances were broadcast using online platforms and the folk dances of both the places were appreciated, especially the Kashmiri dance “Rouf” and “Bandjashean” and the Tribal dances of Tamil Nadu.

The event ended on a high note appreciating the cultural diversity and richness by the participants. E-Certificates were given to all the performers and the participants. A total of 192 students participated in that online event.

The Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat campaign is aimed at actively enhancing interaction between the people of diverse cultures living in different states and Union Territories of India with the objective of promoting greater mutual understanding among them.

The upcoming events are: on December 18, a seminar on Investment and Management is planned at Government Arts College for Women (Autonomous) at Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu.

A Workshop on “Household Cleansing Products” is organised on December 23 at National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu. The resource persons are:  Dr. Ramaswamy Murugavel from Mumbai and S.Manikandan from Dindigul.

A Consumer Awareness programme for villagers around Nagercoil villages is being organised on January 2, 2021 at Government Arts and Science College, Konam, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.

An Inter-collegiate competition (district Level) is organised on February 3, 2021 at Government Arts and Science College, Konam, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.

An Inter collegiate Chess tournament is to be organised on February 4, 2021 Government Arts and Science College, Konam, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.

A national-level seminar on “How to face Competitive Exams and Interviews” is organized on February 10, 2021 at Government Arts and Science College, Konam,  Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.

An Inter-college exhibition and competition are organised on February 26, 2021, at Government Arts and Science College, Konam, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.

The National Science day will be celebrated by various science departments with an exhibition and workshops on February 27, 2021 at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Trichirappalli in Tamil Nadu.

In view of the World Consumer Day, a Consumer Awareness exhibition is to be organised on March 15, 2021 at Government Arts and Science College, Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu.
