MADINAH, Feb 26 – Civil Defense rescued 368 Pakistani pilgrims from a fire that broke out at a hotel in Madinah shortly after noon on Tuesday. Three people suffered burns in the incident, including one of the responding firefighters.

The fire raged across part of the fourth floor of a seven-story hotel and originated in two rooms, said Col. Khaled Al-Johani, Madinah Civil Defense spokesman.

“Five rescue teams and five firefighting teams were sent to the hotel upon receiving a report at 12:15 p.m.,” he said.

Two patients have been discharged from hospital, while the third patient has been kept admitted for further observation.

Residents were taken to safe locations. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the official said. — ArabNews
