SRINAGAR – National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday dared Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of BJP and party’s in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, to prove his ‘Pakistan instructions’ allegation or “be man enough to apologize”. In a bid to clarify his remarks, Madhav said he was not questioning Omar’s patriotism and he did not intend to offend him and his was just a political comment, but Omar remained furious and said “No, misplaced attempts at humour won’t work.” Hours later, the BJP leader tweeted to say he was taking back his comment.

“Just [email protected] n saw this. Now tht u deny any external pressure I take back my comment, bt, now tht u proved it ws genuine love btw NC n PDP tht prompted a failed govt formation attempt,u shud fight nxt elections 2gether. Mind u it’s pol comnt, not personal,” tweeted Ram Madhav around 2 PM in response to the last tweet of Omar Abdullah.

The Kashmir leader had tweeted around 11 am: “No, misplaced attempts at humour won’t work. You HAVE claimed my party has been acting at the behest of Pakistan. I dare you to prove it! Place the evidence of your allegation of NC boycott of ULB polls at Pak behest in public domain. It’s an open challenge to you & your Govt.”

The BJP leader had alleged that Omar’s party NC and PDP of Mehbooba Mufti tried to join hands to form government after “fresh instructions from across the border.”

“PDP & NC boycotted local body polls last month because they had instructions from across the border. Probably they had fresh instructions from across the border to come together & form govt. What they did prompted Guv to look into the whole issue,” Madhav had reportedly said.

Furious Omar responded: “I dare you @rammadhavbjp ji to prove your allegation. You have RAW, NIA & IB at your command (CBI too is your parrot) so have the guts to place evidence in the public domain. Either prove this or be man enough to apologise. Don’t practice shoot & scoot politics,” tweeted Omar Abdullah.

Minutes after Omar’s challenge, Madhav tweeted clarified that he was not questioning Omar’s patriotism and did not want to offend him.

“Just take it in your stride @OmarAbdullah Not questioning your patriotism at all. But d sudden love between NC n PDP n d hurry to form government leads to many suspicions n political comments. Not to offend u,” he said.

But Omar rejected Madhav’s clarification.

“No, misplaced attempts at humour won’t work. You HAVE claimed my party has been acting at the behest of Pakistan. I dare you to prove it! Place the evidence of your allegation of NC boycott of ULB polls at Pak behest in public domain. It’s an open challenge to you & your Govt.”

On Wednesday noon, Mehbooba Mufti had tried to intimate the Governor Satya Pal Malik that her party has got support from NC and Congress to form a fresh government. However, her message was not received by the Governor’s office. And around 9 pm, the Governor dissolved the Assembly which was in the suspended animation for the last five months since PDP and BJP parted ways leading to the fall of their coalition government in the state.
