NEW DELHI — Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to repeal the three central farm laws, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a bill in that regard, according to sources, reports PTI.

The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 will now be introduced in the Lok Sabha to repeal the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance, Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 in the upcoming Winter session of Parliament beginning November 29.

The Lok Sabha Bulletin on Tuesday had already listed ‘The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021’.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders for more than year, demanding the repeal of the controversial farm laws as the main demand during which more than 700 farmers lost their life.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) spearheaded the agitation against the farm legislations in which farmers of around 40 farmer unions took part.
