RAMPUR, UP — Trouble looks increasing day by day for Rampur Member of Parliament (MP) Azam Khan and his family members as the District Administration has pasted a notice on the house of Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam here on Monday.

Azam Khan’s wife Tazeen Fatima, Rajya Sabha MP, and two of their sons – Abdullah Azam Khan and Adeeb Azam Khan have been issued a notice under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) over land encroachment.

They have been alleged to have grabbed farmers land for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.

They have been given three days’ time to appear before the police for questioning, according to notice.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav was forced to cancel his visit to Rampur to show solidarity with Azam Khan, MP from his party, as Yogi government has stopped him from going there on Monday on the pretext of Muharram.

Addressing a press conference Akhilesh said: “I had to leave for Rampur today. I had shared all the details with the administration, including the people whom I was going to meet. But, the District Magistrate gave the pretext of Muharram and told us that the arrangements for the visit could not be made.”

Samajwadi Party chief said: “Since Muharram and Ganesh Visarjan is happening, so I have postponed my programme. I am going there on September 13 and 14. I will be sending all the details to the administration”

Akhilesh Yadav accused the District Magistrate (DM) of not making the arrangements: “The DM is seeking extension, he wants to be in Uttar Pradesh only.”

Akhilesh Yadav also attacked Congress for the situation in Rampur. He said: “The BJP, Congress and the administration are in unison in Rampur. BJP has no faith in democracy. They don’t want the University to be there. The government has made Rampur an issue only to hide their failures.”
