NEW DELHI — Vikram Singh Randhawa, BJP leader and former Jammu and Kashmir lawmaker, is in hot waters after a video went viral showing him making a violent hate speech against Kashmiri Muslims. He says those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in the recent cricket match at ICC Men’s World Cup 2021 should be skinned alive, their citizenship stripped and they should be booked under sedition charges.

He is heard saying “agencies should take this matter up and those who have cheered for Pakistan, their degrees should be cancelled and their citizenship taken away from them.”

Continuing his anti-Kashmir rant Randhawa says Pakistani blood runs in the veins of Kashmiris, and they should be beaten and skinned alive for it.

“None of them celebrated Pakistan’s win against Afghanistan. Did their mother die that day? It is only a win against Kaafirs they celebrate. These katmullas (derogatory term for Muslims) give divorces on mobile, they should also pray namaaz on WhatsApp. Why do they occupy public spaces for it?” Randhawa says in the clip that was shared by former minister and People’s Democratic Party leader Naeem Akhtar on Twitter who tagged the Jammu and Kashmir Police official handle to alert them for action.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said in a tweet, “no action taken against an ex-BJP MLA who calls for genocide of Kashmiris & to skin them alive. But J&K students are charged with sedition for merely cheering the winning team. India is surely the mother of all democracies. @JmuKmrPolice @OfficeOfLGJandK”.

The fallout of Pakistan’s win has been ominous as it triggered a wave of hate crimes against Muslims in India. Some trolls went after cricketer Mohammad Shami and abused him because of his Muslim identity.

Indian captain Virat Kohli also faced the wrath of Hindutva bigots because he came out to back Shami.

In Uttar Pradesh, the police booked three Kashmiri students under sedition for sharing posts where they cheered for Pakistan. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that anyone found celebrating Pakistan’s win in cricket will face the law of sedition.
