The ‘unauthorised’ event on Hapur Road draws a large gathering; the influencer denies wrongdoing and says fans gathered on their own
HAPUR — Social media influencer Shadab Jakati has been booked again after a large crowd gathered during a roadshow linked to the opening of his jewellery showroom in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the incident took place on Sunday on Hapur Road at the World Square building, where Jakati had organised the opening of his showroom, Jakati Jewellers. Officials said the roadshow was carried out without prior permission.
As news of his arrival spread, a large number of fans and local youths gathered at the spot. The crowd quickly grew, leading to heavy traffic congestion. Many people were seen struggling in the heat as movement on the road came to a halt.
A police officer said, “The gathering was not authorised. Due to the sudden crowd, traffic was affected and public movement was disrupted. We had to intervene to manage the situation.”
Reports suggest that several other influencers were present at the event, including Neha Singh, the sister of cricketer Rinku Singh. As the crowd increased, the situation became difficult to control.
Eyewitnesses said there was panic at one point. Some videos circulating online appear to show bouncers using force to push people back. Shortly after, local police reached the spot.
Police used mild force to disperse the crowd and clear the road. “Our priority was to restore order and ensure safety,” an officer said. “The roadshow was stopped, and normal traffic was resumed.”
Following initial checks, police registered a case against Jakati for organising a public gathering without permission and causing obstruction to traffic. Officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
Responding to the incident, a person close to Jakati said, “He did not intend to create any problem. Fans gathered on their own after hearing about the event.”
This is not the first time Jakati has faced legal trouble. Earlier, a case had been filed by the husband of a woman who worked with him, though that matter was later resolved through mutual agreement.
Jakati, known for his comedy videos, rose to popularity on social media with his well-known line, “Das wala biscuit kitne ka hai ji,” which gained wide attention online.
Police said they are reviewing video footage and statements to determine the sequence of events. “Action will be taken based on evidence,” an official added.
The incident has raised questions about crowd management during influencer-led events, especially when large gatherings form without formal approval.
