DEWAS — A student from a poor labourer’s family in Madhya Pradesh has achieved academic success, highlighting how education can change lives even in difficult conditions.

Shah Rukh Khan, a Class 12 student from Khategaon tehsil in Dewas district, scored 90 per cent marks in the state board examination. He also secured the second rank in his school, CM Rise Government Mahatma Gandhi School.

Shah Rukh’s father works as a daily wage labourer, doing welding and carpentry work to support the household. The family lives in a small rented room, and their income is limited, but education has remained their top priority.

His father, Raouf Khan, said, “We have very little, but we always wanted our children to study. This result is the reward for his hard work.”

His mother, Rukhsana, who is not educated, spoke about her struggle and determination. She said, “I could not study, but I understand its value. We spend most of what we earn on our children’s education. We manage with very little, but we never compromise on their studies.”

She added, “I avoid social functions and personal needs, but I make sure my children get a proper education.”

Teachers at the school praised Shah Rukh’s discipline and commitment. One teacher said, “He is a focused student. Despite financial problems, he never lost interest in studies. His success is well deserved.”

The family’s story is also marked by consistent achievement. Two years ago, Shah Rukh’s sister had topped the same school in Class 12 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree.

Locals and school staff have congratulated the family, calling it an example for other students facing similar challenges.

Shah Rukh’s achievement has brought pride not only to his family but also to the wider community, showing that with effort and support, students from modest backgrounds can succeed in education.
